Fats have become somewhat demonised by the popular press and comercial food advertising with many foods advertised as fat-free as though that conferred some advantage or health properties to the food. Animal fat, fish oils and dairy fat are in fact very healthy foods to eat if you they are part of your diet also seed & vegetable oils. It is the nature of their production that could cause problems if overly refined, heated, bleached, deodorised, etc. Many people are afraid of putting on excess weight and to most people that means excess fat and therefore it is a simple step, to then assume, if you don’t want excess fat, cut down the amount of fat you eat. However the body doesn’t quite work in that manner, just as the best way to get strong vibrant hair would not be to eat hair! The most common source of excess fat in the body is in fact from the conversion of sugar and refined carbohydrate (sweets, flour, pastries, biscuits, cakes etc) into stored fat, initiated by your hormone insulin. Therefore to reduce excess fat in thebody the sugar/insulin issue needs to be addressed.
